• Fixed a bug which rejected all partition table/bootloader files specified as cargo package metadata
• Released version 1.4.1 including the above fix plus one other

  • Currently works for macOS (aarch64/x86_x64), Linux (x86_64, gnu/musl), and Windows (x86_65, gnu/musl)

xtensa-lx

• Fixed a bug where atomics where expected to be supported for the ESP32-S2 and ESP8266
  • New version has additional features, esp32s2 and esp32s3, as a result

miscellaneous

• Released a new version of xtensa-toolchain (v1.1) which fixed a bug when using rust-toolchain.toml files with the esp channel
• Updated riscv and xtensa-lx dependencies in all PACs, published new releases for all
• Added support for ESP8266 (UART) and ESP32-S3 (USB Serial JTAG) to the esp-println crate
• Additional book updates

esp-wifi

• more developer friendly

  • no custom linker scripts (besides rom function definitions)
  • a simple way to get an embedded-nal (smoltcp-nal) instance
    • unfortunately smoltcp-nal only implements client traits for now
  • minimal embedded-svc/wifi implementation

• tried to get drogue-tls to work

  • drogue is stream based, embedded-nal not
  • handshake timeout
  • got it to work to find out it doesn't like to connect to HiveMQ - not even on desktop
  • not much in regards to pure Rust no-std TLS available

bare-metal-adafruit-io-temp-logger for ESP32 example

• espidf: fix stat rust-lang/rust#94609 finally merged 🎉 , which should fix the esp32c3 target on nightly.

TLS

• Add support for ESP32 and RISC-V briansmith/ring#1459 Closed by the author, maybe we should take on getting it merged.

USB SERIAL JTAG

• Issues with flashing bigger applications, are important to fix as the Rust board uses this alone.
  • Possibly a watchdog issue, am investigating.

LLVM

• [Xtensa] Add LLD linker support (LLVM-143) espressif/llvm-project#53 Has been updated to support most (all?) Xtensa relocations.

  • Support for starting build in activated ESP-IDF environment esp-idf-sys#36
• Released a new embuild version 0.29.0.
• New esp-idf-sys version pending. Question: new minor or patch release?
